Welcome to the 2024 Coastal Season

Tryouts will be hosted earlier this year to allow our National Teams the ability to travel to one tournament in the fall as an exhibition match to have exposure to college coaches.

AAU Membership:
To participate in tryouts you must have your AAU membership. You can get a AAU membership or renew your membership here

Note: If you played at Coastal for the 2023 season or at another club that required a AAU membership it is good through August 31st and still active for tryouts.

Coastal's merger with TVA allows us to become your one-stop shop for boys' indoor and beach volleyball!  All Coastal athletes will have built-in sand training opportunities during the indoor season (though we will be sure to focus solely on indoor skills during the bulk of the tournament season) and will have an opportunity to receive discounted tuition into TVA's 757 Beach juniors program, coordinated by Coastal coach Matt McLaren, a Penn State Men's Volleyball alum recently recognized as an ACVA Thirty under 30 Beach award winner (a list of the Nation's top up-and-coming young coaches).

Matt McLaren - 2019 Penn State Men's Volleyball alum, 2-time all EIVA Team,  Honorable Mention All-American,  AVCA Beach Thirty Under 30  Coach Award Winner,  USAV regional sand coach,  757 Beach club coordinator.  

Scott Horning - 14 seasons at Coastal.  Assistant Coach for the Juniata Men's Volleyball team from 2004-2009 where he won four DIII National Championships.  Penn State alum who worked on the Men's Volleyball staff from 1997-2000.  2003 Volunteer assistant with Penn State Women's Volleyball.  Former assistant coach with Virginia Wesleyan Women's Volleyball.  Has won multiple Nationals bids as Coastal coach.

Chris Riley - Played volleyball at Jacksonville University and coached one year at his Alma Matter. Was an assistant coach for six year at St Johns University then moved and spent six years coaching at Towson University  where they won the America East regular season title in 2001 and the CAA regular season title in 2003 and 2004 and the Championship in 2004 for the schools first NCAA appearance. From Towson University Chris moved and coached at Virginia Tech for 7 years from 2006-2016 where he coached 4 All Americans and made the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament in 2010

Zach Evans - Coastal boys' alum, former standout at Landstown High School.  Played volleyball for Stevens Institute of Technology, at top DIII program which finished 3rd in the Nation his senior year (2022).

Mario Raden - Coastal boys' alum.  Named to USA Beach Volleyball Developmental Team.  Won a VHSL State Championship with Princess Anne High School in 2013.  

Antonio Espada- Coastal boys' alum, former All-Tidewater player at Indian River.  Played on University of Charleston Men's Volleyball Team

Derek Galvao - 10+ years coaching with Coastal, led  our 15U team last year, players improved greatly under Derek.  Navy vet with great discipline and work ethic.  

Randy Fowler- Long time boys' coach at Coastal, began coaching in 2012.  Has been on the staff of numerous bid-winning Coastal boys' teams.  Son, Bobby, is a Coastal alum and currently plays for the George Mason University men's team.

Riley McRandle - Recent Coastal boys' alum and former All-Tidewater player at Kellam High School.

Tony Dunbar- Second year with Coastal, all district player at Grassfield
