TVA announces Big Plans:
Tidewater Volleyball Association is pleased to announce our plans to move all hard court activities to the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
“As programs, such as TVA Juniors, have continued to grow, we are excited to be able have access to 12 volleyball courts to expand our objective to promote and grow volleyball in the Hampton Roads area. We are looking forward to offering new volleyball programs for all age groups including adults year round that we were not able to offer at our current facility due to lack of space. We are grateful to Eastern Sports Management and the city of Virginia Beach for approaching us to work with them to grow the game,” says Executive Director, Kris Wojieck-Stein.
TVA is a non-profit that has been promoting indoor and beach volleyball for over 50 years and supports local,
national, and international athletes to pursue their volleyball dreams.
Tidewater’s plan also includes moving the four-court beach volleyball facility from 2682 Dean Drive to 2644 Dean Drive.
This will allow expansion to five indoor sand courts.
Dexter Powers, TVA’s Director of Operations states, “Our indoor sand leagues currently have a waiting list on weeknights and we have had to add a Sunday Night League as well that starts after Sunday Tournaments have ended. Having five courts will allow more participants to play the sport they love and allow us to run larger Sand Tournament Events including NCAA Beach Tournaments.”
As a non-profit, the Association is also reaching out for member and community support for this move. Due to the Governor’s order for only essential businesses to remain open due to COV-19, TVA has not been able to operate since March 15. If you would like to donate to TVA, please visit GoFundMe.
The Virginia Beach Sports Center is currently being built next to the Virginia Beach Convention Center and will house 12 Full court Basketball courts (24 Volleyball Courts) and an indoor banked track and field area.
